Old-Fashioned M&M Cookies

Ingredients:

½ cup margarine, softened
½ cup butter, softened
½ cup white sugar
½ cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg
2 cups flour
½ teaspoon baking soda
1/8 teaspoon salt
10 oz. package M&M candies

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 350°F. 

Cream the margarine and butter together.  Add the white sugar and brown sugar and mix together until light and fluffy. 

Mix in the egg and vanilla.

Stir in the flour, baking soda and salt. 

Fold in half of the m&m candies (about 2/3 cup).  Reserve the rest of the m&ms to add to the tops of the cookies after baking.

Roll about 1 teaspoon of dough into balls and place on parchment lined baking sheets.* 

Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges of the cookies are light brown. 

After removing the cookies from the oven, immediately place a few reserved m&m candies on each cookies, pressing gently. 

Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before removing to finish cooling on a wire rack.

*For larger or smaller sized cookies, adjust the cooking time.

Makes about 4 dozen cookies


Stir-in-ideas:
Chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, white chocolate chips, coconut, any kind of chopped nuts, pretzels or potato chips (broken up).
